Now operating under its third generation, Pierre’s has become a family tradition for brides far and wide.
Originating in Chicago, second generation owner Virginia Bland began her journey in the Bridal industry with her mother at the age of 11 in 1981 within the Hispanic communities. Immigrating to the United States from Uruguay, South America in 1975 with her 9 siblings only 6 years prior, the Bridal Industry became their American Dream. Alexandria’s Bridal was Pierre’s original name in 1981 before changing to Pierre’s Novia’s in 1990 when Virginia took over ownership. She shortly moved her State renowned Bridal business from Chicago to Lansing, Michigan in 2001 only to be today’s current Pierre’s Bridal, Prom & Tuxedo by 2002.
4025 W. Saginaw Hwy in Lansing (Pierre’s) was originally built in 1954 as a church and has countless visits from previous brides whom wanted to see their once place of “I do” for their continued wedding anniversaries. The building was then turned into Westdale Realty until sitting vacant from 1999 – 2001. In 2002, Pierre’s was awarded the Neighborhood Improvement Award from Delta Charter Township for renovating the eyesore, unused building into a beautiful Pink Bridal Store.
The store began as 2,500 square feet of first floor Bridal and 2,500 second floor alterations and some prom, quinceanera and bridesmaids. By 2005, Virginia had renovated the second floor to be a complete Prom boutique. To begin 2010, Virginia asked husband Jeff to join her legacy in computerizing Pierre’s through state of the art BBL Software along with fully expanding into the menswear portion of their Bridal Boutique. In 2012, Pierre’s had another renovation expanding its Bridal areas along with a full renovation for the second floor Prom and Quinceanera. Beginning in 2014, we began the evolution of exterior cosmetic work to what is it today. In 2017, Pierre’s moved ownership into its next generation as Virginia’s Daughter Sarah began her full journey into continuing the Pierre’s Legacy alongside her father Jeff.
Now approaching Pierre’s 23rd year at its Lansing, Michigan location serving thousands of brides, Pierre’s continues to flourish as one of Michigan’s largest and leading Bridal Salons. The rich and long-standing history that makes us who we are today continues to bring generations of Pierre’s Brides to Lansing.
